Network Rail have been monitoring the cast iron railway bridge which forms a visual gateway into Whaley Bridge over a number of years.
Parts of the structure were showing signs of distress, and after initial discussion with Historic England, it was evident that detailed consideration needed to be given to the options for repair.
Bernadette supported the investigation and design development by undertaking an Assessment of Significance of the structure. She also worked alongside the engineering team to investigate options for repair and partial reconstruction.
