Ribblehead Viaduct is a hugely impressive Grade II* listed viaduct on the Settle to Carlisle Railway.
Bernadette was requested to support the team in discharging conditions relating specifically to the mortar specification as part of a phase of maintenance and repair works.
Following a conservation-led approach, Bernadette guided the team through stages of mortar testing and sampling. Working with specialists Womersley’s, the team investigated alternative sample mixes to enable agreement of the preferred approach with the local planning authority and Historic England.
